How To Become A UGC Content Creator.

  1. What Does UGC Stand For?

UGC stands for user-generated content. Brands need lots of content for their social media and website so that is where UGC content creators are needed. So as a UGC creator, you are making organic authentic content that brands will use on their social media platforms and websites.

2. How Do I Become A UGC Content Creator?

You need to start taking pictures and short-form vertical videos of products from brands that you already have, use, and love. Once you have your content created you are going to use that content to create your UGC portfolio. You need to have a portfolio if you want to be taken seriously by brands in the UGC industry. Having a portfolio is important because you need to show brands what type of content you can create for them.

Then next you need to start creating your social media pages so that you can start promoting yourself as a UGC creator. That’s where you can also promote your new content and that is where you can also link your portfolio. TikTok and X formerly known as Twitter are where I would create my UGC pages on because they have a huge community of UGC creators and brands post a lot of job opportunities on those two social media platforms.

You can also pitch directly to brands that you know you love and what to create content for. The best way to go about this is to create a pitch email telling the brand who you are, what kind of content you can create, and how they will benefit from you creating content for them that they will use on their socials. Also in that pitch email, you should make sure to link your portfolio so that they can take a look at your work. The other way is going through platforms that connect you to brand opportunities for UGC creators. I will be talking about that in a separate blog post just because there are so many and want to make sure that I am giving you all the tea on those platforms.

3. Do UGC Creators Make Money?

Yes, you can make money as a UGC content creator. I have been doing my research and a lot of UGC creators at the beginning of their journey get a lot of gifted collaborations which is good to use on your portfolio and get used to working with brands. Once you get experience you can start charging and I highly suggest that you create a services and rate sheet. This services and rate sheet is a document that you send separately to brands that lists out all of your services and the prices that you charge for said services. Some creators put their rates on their portfolio but I recommend that you don’t do that because you can be leaving a lot of money on the table. Once brands see your rates first, they will stick with your rates, but a brand may have had a budget to pay you more. It would help if you always asked a brand for their budget before you send them your rate sheet, and always be willing to negotiate prices so that you get exactly what you are worth.

4. How Many Followers Do You Need To Be A UGC Creator?

What is great about being a UGC content creator is that you don’t need followers on your social medias platforms because as a UGC creator you are making content for brands to use on their socials and you will not be posting that content on your social platforms. That is why your following size does not matter. That is why a lot of people love doing UGC because you can jump right into that industry unlike with being an influencer where you do have to have some following on your social media. So no you do not need followers to become a UGC creator.

My Final Thoughts.

So if you enjoy creating content and you don’t have followers or a big following then UGC may be for you. I myself have really just began to start my journey in the UGC space, but I am not new to creating content. I have been creating content since 2018. So as I learn new things concerning UGC I will be sharing them with you in upcoming blog posts. Thanks for reading and I will see you all in my next post.
